Ntegra was given the opportunity by an established Telco organisation to implement Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS), as a capability to support Third Party Collaboration for 1500 users.
The solution looked at extending internal collaboration with partners, vendors and personnel as they were unable to access SharePoint unless they were connected to the internal network via Ethernet, approved laptop or other approved device. Therefore, collaboration should take many forms ranging from short term initiatives to longer programmes, mergers and acquisitions.
A requirement of the system should ensure that documents up to Confidential are able to be stored and shared on the system. Security policies will be applied on the system whereby external domain users are unable to become administrators of a workspace. Additional notifications to Site Owners will also be given to ensure that they follow guidelines when setting up permissions.
Access to the domain active directory is restricted on all areas of the Third Party Access workspaces so that external users are unable to see identities of other users within the system.
As a part of the functional business requirements, Ntegra implemented tailored “Self Service” tools to reduce SharePoint administration issues, fixes and other assistance from IT support. Therefore tools such as site creation, user account creation, account password reset and service provisioning was implemented as an end deliverable. Alongside the “Self Service” tools, site provisioning was essential to ensuring these sites are functional therefore, processes and policies was implemented to assist users on how to use the tools as well as provide information regarding the site and user account lifecycles.
